About Bill MacPherson
For the last thirty-eight years Macpherson has been a full time musician, performing, composing, touring, teaching and recording. On tour and in the studio he has had the pleasure of working with many great and talented artists. His guitar styles embrace the blues, R&B, afro-pop, rock, latin, jazz, Brazilian, folk, country and pop. As a band leader he has recorded thirteen projects, as a producer seventeen projects and as a sideman played on over seventy-two recordings. Sea World San Diego has been using his music for the last eighteen years as a part of their background music played throughout the theme park. His band
Native Vibe has twice been voted into the Grammy Awards voting process. Native Vibe has been together for twenty-eight years. Currently he is living, composing, performing and teaching music in Ventura, California.
Recently Macpherson spent 5 years in Costa Rica where he performed music full-time and taught guitar privately as well. There he learned Spanish and absorbed many Latin music styles. William was raised in Congo, Africa, the son of medical missionary parents. He speaks French, Spanish, English and two African dialects, Kituba and Lingala.
